Brunswick County is the fourth largest county in North Carolina, located between historic Wilmington and lively Myrtle Beach, and encompasses 1050 square miles on the southern tip of the state. Brunswick County is the second fastest growing county in North Carolina.
The beach areas are made up of five barrier islands, and include the towns/villages of Bald Head Island, Oak Island, Caswell Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach and Holden Beach. The mainland towns include: Belville, Bolivia, Calabash, Carolina Shores, Leland, Navassa, Sandy Creek, Shallotte, St. James, Varnamtown, & Winnabow. The cities of Brunswick County are Boiling Spring Lakes, Northwest, and Southport.
Southport, a quaint Victorian fishing village, has had some national recognition recently with the filming of the Nicholas Sparks movie “Safe Haven.” The population of Brunswick County, according to the 2013 US Census data, is approximately 115,301.
